A wickedly witty satire, The Loser Letters, by writer Mary Eberstadt, chronicles the conversion of a young woman of Faith to Atheism.
Her open letters to the leaders of the New Atheism explain her reasons for rejecting God and the logical consequences of that choice. Along the way she offers sharp and acute advice to leading atheists in the hope of helping them win over more people of faith. But what about all those serious, thoughtful people who are believers?
If the New Atheism is to make real headway, she argues, its advocates must do more to persuade the intelligent faithful living meaningful and fulfilling lives, and she is going to help them do it.
She is not alone, however. She finds herself in an institution where all the attendants are identical, the director might not be human, and her Inner Demon constantly flies around her.
Echoing C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters and Dante’s Divine Comedy, The Loser Letters, uses humor and insight to take its protagonist through a full journey of changing faith and greater understanding.
Olympic and World Champion Gymnast Chellsie Memmel makes her Theatrical Debut as the ever present Shadow: The Young Woman’s Inner Demon.
